There are many types of lighting kits for all kind of tasks that you might have at hand.
Ranging from video light kits to camera light kits, you will have to decide beforehand on what use you will be
giving them. For example, there are a couple of differences that you may face if you will be using your light kits
against green background; not much but still, there are some differences that you must know before spending your
hard earned cash on it.
Different Types of Lighting Kits
Video Light Kits
You may find some great lighting kits to buy on Amazon.
Buying from them, you will get the benefit of buying from one of the largest retail stores that will for sure have
a good warranty and customer relation with all their products. You may check on prices and read
reviews here.
As you can see from the product, it is an easy to set up video light kit that can also be used as camera light
kits. With it, you will have constant lighting that will allow you to check on lighting patterns right away. Not
only that, this video and photo light kit will also come with an instructional DVD to aid you on your video
efforts. You can use it with a point-and-shoot camera or any other digital SLR camera.
Photo Light Kits
As you may see, lighting kits can become one of the most essential tools for the aspiring
producer. When buying your photo light kit, ensure that it has many of the most standard features such as:
Adjustable lighting stand that enables you to easily change your light heights to better suit your theme. I've
seen many light kits that do not have a good adjustable stand making our job way harder than it should be.
Photo bulbs: this will depend heavily on what kind of environment and mood you would like to have in your photo
and video light kits. It is recommended that you check if the light bulb that comes along with your lighting kit is
energy efficient and that they do not accumulate heat as much as incandescent bulb. This sometimes can be quite
tricky to find out since you will only know after a long period using it (unless you want to ask the clerk to turn
it on and wait at the store for a couple of hours to check on how much heat has the light bulb produced! Definitely
not recommended!)
Light sockets: check your photo light kit socket to ensure that you won't be running into problems later on when
trying to adjust and mount them in your studio.
Neon Light Kits

With this type of lighting kits you can go all Darth Vaderly and start using neon light everywhere!
But be careful! People tend to get a bit too "Vegas" with these and overuse them; "cars" is the first thing that
pops into my mind when thinking of the term "neon light kits". As any other lighting kit, this requires good design
knowledge to make the most of it. Since neon lights tend to be quite flashy and eye-catching, you must be really
careful where and how to place them. With more discrete lighting kits you might get away with it, but with neon
light think hard before using them anywhere.
